Omega-3 Deficiency in Kids

Omega 3 fatty acids are not just important to adults, but according to an article by Vital Choice, many US and Canadian kids are deemed omega-3 deficient.

“The omega-3s found only in fish and fish oil, called EPA and DHA - are essential to health at all stages of life.

For infants up to the age of three, DHA is required for proper development of the brain and eyes.

After that, both EPA and DHA are important for thinking, learning, and memory, and research suggests that they may moderate behavior.

Humans can make EPA and DHA from the plant-form omega-3 called ALA.

But this is a very inefficient process that can be further reduced by the excess omega-6 fat intake characteristic of North American diets, and by genetic or other factors.[1]”

Omega- 3 fatty acids are just as important to adults as in kids. There are many health organizations that recommend either eating fish high in fatty acids, or taking a supplement. How you get the necessary omega-3 fatty acids is not as important as making sure your body receives them.

The American Heart Association recommends eating fish (particularly fatty fish such as mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna, and salmon) at least 2 times a week. It is advised that pregnant women and mothers, nursing mothers, young children, and women who might become pregnant not eat several types of fish, including swordfish, shark, and king mackerel. These individuals should also limit consumption of other fish, including albacore tuna, salmon, and herring. They can take omega-3 fatty acids in quality dietary supplements that are certified mercury-free by a reputable third-party lab, like TriVita's Omega Prime.

OmegaPrime's EFAs support our wellness in so many ways, starting with helping to reduce runaway inflammation. Many of us don't realize this, but runaway inflammation can lead to various serious health problems in the body involving the heart, arteries, lungs, joints and more. But the EFAs support the body's health by helping to:

  • Reduce Cardiovascular Inflammation -- which lowers the risks of heart disease, heart attack and stroke
  • Lessen Joint Inflammation -- which eases joint pain & inflammation for increased flexibility
  • Relieve Respiratory Inflammation – which lessens any inflammation-related to allergies and asthma.

Omega Prime helps meet the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. One daily dose of Omega Prime provides the amount of Omega-3 recommended by the AHA for healthy individuals, as well as for those who have heart disease or the risk of it.

Weigth Loss

Weight Loss - Obesity occurs when someone accumulates more fat than the body can burn. This can be genetic, but in most cases an eating problem ought to be considered. Particularly since we know carrying too much weight is dangerous.

Besides the excess weight, those who are overweight may also struggle with other complications such as low self-esteem. They may even be subject to a hype from the general mass media and Hollywood- hype that leans toward the "slim model" ideal way to look. Clothes are often hard to find and sometimes seats in airplanes cost the plus-size person extra money. Additionally, they may be faced with sleep irregularities. Unfortunately, the risk of stroke is another side effect of obesity.

Can a weigh loss diet solve the problems? Researchers and nutritionists report there is a connection between weight loss and proper diet. Additionally, dieting does not mean you always have to starve yourself. Instead, it can mean you are paying close attention to what you eat and you are now taking healthy precautions. For example, you’re cooking with oils, such as olive oil, and you’re avoiding animal fats as much as possible.

You can get on the right food and body track by educating yourself; reading labels when shopping is recommended, and being aware there are some foods that have higher calorie content than others. Further, taking time to “move” about will do lots to up the weight loss.

Your Keywords and SEO

Choosing the proper keywords can make or break your web site. Potential customers (people searching the web) search for sites that will provide a solution to meet their need. If your web site doesn't have the keywords they're looking for, they probably will not find you. Since people search Google based on keywords, it's very important to have your site optimized for the proper keywords.

There are many theories about keywords and keyword research. However, there are several sites designed to assist you in helping finding the proper keyword(s). If you choose to do it yourself, here are a few of the free keyword research sites available:

The SEO Book Keyword Tool (http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/) lists searches related to the keyword you provide. This tool is great for expanding your list.

Wordtracker (http://www.wordtracker.com) helps identify keywords that will help your ranking on search engines. Wordtracker also gives you other keyword combinations that you may have overlooked.

The Keyword Tumbler (http://www.keywordtumbler.com) is a free keyword research marketing tool that takes your existing keyword phrase and generates multiple variations of it, simply by mixing the words in each keyword phrase around.

Finding the proper keywords is an art; so if you feel like an artist, feel free to take on the challenge. Personally, I would rather have a professional SEO specialist help me find the proper keyword(s), ad then help me with a search engine optimization campaign, so I can get my site highly ranked on Google.

If you're taking on the challenge, a great way to find the proper keyword(s) for your site is to work backwards. In other words, what would a customer search for if they were looking for your site? You should literally put yourself in the consumer's place. Let go of any preconceived notions you have about what you think your keywords should be. Become a customer of your site, and ask yourself, what would I type into Google's search box to find my site?

Once you have the proper keywords, go back over your web site, and reread it. How many keywords, or words that are related to my site, do I have? Always remember, when writing (rewriting) content for your site you should use words that are not only related to your content, but ones that are popular search words as well. This is what some expert SEO specialists call keyword optimization, or choosing the most searched keywords related to your content.

As you go over your site, spend some time listing all of the words and phrases that are related to your web site content. Get ideas from everyone you can think of and list them all. Visit competitors' sites and see what meta tags, title, and descriptions they're using. After you have completed your research, go back over your site again; make the necessary changes to your content to reflect the keyword and/or keyword phrases you have selected.

Remember, the greatest web site in the world is not so great if no one can find it. Research your keywords carefully, from a consumer's point of view. Optimize your site properly. Get your site indexed by Google. Receive additional training on the finer points of search engine optimization and learn how to get your site highly ranked. And best of all, use a powerful SEO system that will improve your chances of people finding it.

Weight Loss

Weight Loss - It’s nothing new, but exercise is probably the most important predictor of whether you will succeed at long term weight loss or weight loss maintenance. In order for exercise to be helpful in weight loss, you should strive for a minimum of five 30 minute sessions per week. The good news is that recent research has shown that three 10 minute sessions in a day are as good as one 30 minute session. This helps many in combating the old “no time for exercise” excuse. Be certain to find something you enjoy. You’ll be more apt to stick with it. Try walking with a friend, joining an intramural sports league, or trying some classes at your local gym. Once you give exercise a chance, you will begin to enjoy its positive benefits on your psyche as well; you will literally become "hooked" and it will no longer be a chore
